Lower back pain – Right Side

The fast-paced life is the root cause for lower back pain. Lower back which is known as the ‘lumbar area’ bears the maximum weight of the body. Therefore any injury or wrong posture can result in back pain. However there are many other causes for back pain such as herniated disc, kidney problem etc. If any person is suffering from lower back pain right side then a doctor should be consulted immediately.

  • Spondylolysis: Spondylolysis occurs when vertebra especially the lumbar vertebra is injured or damaged. The outcome is lower back pain.
  • Pregnancy: During pregnancy lower back pain is common as more pressure is exerted on the back because of increase in body weight.

Lower back pain right side can be acute or chronic.This depends upon the cause of the back pain.

  • Chronic pain lasts for a long time and is dull and very painful. Individuals who suffer from chronic pain find it difficult to do manual work and are not able to bend easily.   • Medicines, heat pack and ice pack are used to treat injuries to the back.Heat pads are very effective and should never be used on the affected part of the body if any ointment or lotion is applied. When pain is severe, surgery is also an option.
  • Kidney diseases, herniated disc can be cured with medicines or surgeries.
  • In case of pregnancy back pain is common and special treatment is not required. However to reduce the pain medicines or painkillers can be taken under doctor’s direction. Exercises and physical therapy are also useful in reducing the pain. Some light exercises such as stretching can be done but should be performed only under the supervision of a medical expert.

Some home remedies can also be used to treat back pain. But caution should be taken that it is not used for severe lower back pain. Some home remedies are:

  • Resting at home is amongst the best remedy to reduce back pain. One should rest and lie in a comfortable position
  • If back pain is due to excess weight then weight should be lost through appropriate methods.

Prevention of lower back pain right side

The best thing to avoid lower back pain is to take precautions. Some preventive measures include:

  • Back pain is usually associated with wrong postures. Thus, maintaining the right posture is the best method to prevent back pain.
  • One should not bend down abruptly from the waist. Rather one should bend from the knees even when lifting weights.
  • Exercise only under the guidance of an expert and before starting a serious exercise program physical expert should be consulted.

In short, lower back pain is amongst the most common health problems. However it can be avoided if a proper pattern of life is followed with good eating and sleeping habits.
